Yankee Marshall is not a person, it is a popular YouTube channel run by Dave Atkinson that deals with firearms, self defense, prepping etc. He doses out a lot of common sense and bunches of humor. Proclaiming himself a self-described liberal who loves guns, he frequently posts rants about something he has gotten riled up about that he heard in the news. One of his favorites…..Gun Control.
He actually has produced a number of videos dealing with Gun control. My favorite is his rant about Joe Biden and Gun Control and the Weapons Ban.
In 2013, Joe Biden was interviewed on TV. Yankee Marshall states upfront, “I am not a Biden hater but some things he said just really irritated me”
- Biden, when confronted with the fact that the Assault weapon ban was allowed to expire because it was ineffective, claimed that “it was not ineffective, it expired because it had just reached the 10 year limit.” The Yankee Marshall stated, “This is completely wrong as The FBI even claimed that it was completely ineffective in stopping crime“.
2.The worst part of the interview was when Biden was confronted with the fact that Only 1% of all homicides involve assault weapons. He could not really defend banning assault weapons will not get them to their end goal to reduce homicides and curb violence. But then Biden used the weirdest logic ever by saying ”The fact they are not used to kill people just shows that there is no real legitimate use for them. “
Yankee Marshall comments that “This is the most ridiculous argument I have ever heard. This is borderline mentally deficient to say that. “
- Biden said, “They also should be banned because police are tired of being outgunned on the street by them. It makes a police officer’s job dangerous.” Yankee Marshall points out “I don’t really remember any instance where police were outgunned by assault weapons. Last time I checked, a police officer’s job is dangerous and they know that when they signed up to be a police officer.”
- At one point in the interview Biden claims, “I am more worried about high capacity magazines and glocks. If you had lower magazine capacities crimes and mass shootings would stop”
Yankee Marshall points out that “There has never been any evidence that having smaller magazines ever stopped any crimes or mass killings.”
- Biden, then made one of the dumbest comments ever. “Even though this ban will not address the whole problem and may affect it very little, there is no reason to not do it.” The Yankee Marshall then questions,”Why should you justify taking away liberty when you know it is not going to do anything?”
Yankee Marshall sums up his opinion with “So in the end what I saw was someone glossing over reality in favor their own agenda and trying to present that as fact. Worse, I saw someone who believes that it is still worth trampling on personal liberties because it is what they want to do. What that says to me is that this is not someone who is acting in the best interests of the people, this is someone who is acting like a tyrant. “
The Yankee Marshall may come of at times as a sarcastic nut; however he has some very good points and is obviously a strong supported of the 2nd Amendment.
