WOMEN IN MAIN DEMAND TRAINING IN LINE WITH THE CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY

April 26, 2016

The bill regarding the constitutional carry in Maine became effective on October 15. Along with this, gunshop owners can see that there is now a slight increase in the business sales as people are getting ready to embrace the bill. Among those weapons which have increased in sales are small and compact pistols which are commonly used by women in Maine. Because of the law, individuals who are legally allowed to carry their firearms will be permitted to carry in their possession or vehicles.

MPBN – Maine Public Radio reported:

“Well since that’s happened, we’ve seen a large group of Mainers coming in looking to purchase firearms,” says Ryan Nyer, vice president of Maine Military Supply in Holden. “A lot of them are small firearms that they’re looking to utilize when the law’s passed and in effect. We’ve also seen holsters being a huge uptick. A lot of customers already have handguns and are coming into look for a way to actually carry that firearm on them concealed.”

Because of the constitutional carry, there is also an increase in the number of individuals who are registering for training courses to equip themselves with the knowledge on proper carrying.

It’s a good step that Maine has taken to allow its residents to carry their firearms either concealed or open to be able to defend themselves at all times.

The husband and wife duos are becoming more popular as well. Many husbands are now getting their wives equipped with concealed carry pistols.

“Wednesday is Ladies Day at our indoor shooting range,” Nyer says. “The ladies come in, they don’t have to pay anything to go in there and they can try out firearms in our indoor shooting range, so we’re recognizing that ladies and couples are coming in really interested in the industry and looking for some way to carry.””

Previously, there were only a few women who concealed carried, and it should not be that way, because we all know that women are prone to assault and other crimes so they must be able to protect themselves.
